It was year 1992 at SCG when, South Africa’s World Cup bad luck story started and since then they just went from Bad to Worst!!!

But, is it the start to an end to the Chocker’s tag or will they succumb to the pressures of World Cup knock out in matches ahead??

Time will reveal.

But, for now the Proteas are 1 – up with the Ghost which has stayed in their minds for ages!!!   

In the midst of Victory also came a realization – when world saw stylish 3 and 4 batsmen who walked into sunset.

Worst than Physics, is Duckworth Lewis!!!

I may never understand the calculations of Duckworth Lewis method. But, we would certainly know the pain of being subjected to misfortunes!!!

In the Pakistan vs South Africa match yesterday, the Proteas were set a revised total of 232 in 47 overs despite Pakistan being bowled out for 222 in a rain-curtailed innings at Eden Park, Auckland.

Rational:

The D/L/S method, though, doesn’t consider a team getting bowled out and sets revised targets during the rain interval and not at the end of the innings. It takes into account only the number of runs and wickets at the start of play after the rain delay.

Hence, it didn’t matter how many wickets Pakistan lost after the rain interval. Even if they had ended the innings on 222/5, the target for South Africa would have still been 232.

The target is usually increased in the second innings when the first innings is interrupted by rain because the team batting first are likely to have played at a slower rate thinking they have 50 overs to play.

Then came the “moment of truth” when for the first time Men in Blue registered their first ever win over Proteas. 

A match against UAE turned out to be a one sided affair. 

While today’s match against West Indies played at Lively WACA pitch gave Indians a run for their money!!!

By virtue of 4wins India has qualified to quarter finals and the now the outcome of last encounter against Ireland is a pointless affair.

Not often have we seen Indian team sitting at the top of the table. But can this guarantee a world cup win??
