Metro for Pune
– seemed to be a good option to reduce traffic but, had it been implemented 15 /
20 years back it would have been a different thing.
Is Pune Metro necessary? The answer is a definite Yes!!
But, was it all necessary to run it through areas like Kothrud, City circles, Swargate junction? Well, the jury is still out.
In past, activists and organizations have opposed the plan, petitions were filed by the citizens but, now all seems to have gone in vain.
Digging has started already, boards have come out.... Four-metre wide pillars will have to be constructed on the roads to support the metro track.
Without any construction Karve Road, city area, Swargate junction is jammed pack at usual business hours.
If that is not enough think of those school kids who would spend more time in traffic than on play ground, or working professionals who would spend more time on signals than with their families, imagine running ambulance coming to abrupt halt in traffic. Struggle of older people, disabled people, pregnant women in reaching to desired places.
And adding insult to injury facing the same music in monsoon where already screwed up roads will go a notch up.
All in all this is not inconvenience. This is a SUPER RAPE the citizen are about to face.
But, as they say....
“When rape becomes inevitable lie down and spread legs as much as you can”

’IMAGINE’ with construction of
pillars, or digging of roads for tunnels and with that reduce road width, those outdated buses, trucks, cars moving at a
snail’s pace what will it be like driving on these roads for next 10 years?
